North Korea & The Rest (북한 및 세계)
Understanding how the region matters in today’s global affairs…
Dilemma for Kangnam’s Teheran-no (Road)…
South Korea is at a very delicate juncture. Foreign policy and national interests quite frequently put even relatively peace-seeking countries at odds with undesirable conflicts. Question is: should Korea support US sanctions against Iran?
Both countries have enjoyed warmth in relations in the past few years. Tehran-no’s location in Seoul is a simple indication of the Iran’s importance for Korea. Beyond the logic of business interests, energy security etc., question that Seoul would be asking is if it would be a wise move to support US all-out which is no longer the power centre of the world and surely is not able to dictate its terms in the global politics ány more’ – as apperant in its handling of North Korea and Iran so far. And this situation is not likely to change in foreseeable future as too many variables are independent.
I would like to leave myself with a thought on it. I have a feeling that South Korea might consider contemplating carefully before flowing with the flow.
